To help everyone get to know me and Vinny I've decided to open up this thread about what movies and tv shows everyone is currently watching.

I watch way to much, as you'll see, I'm a bit of a couch potato.

Ok, let's get started...

My fiance was never a fan of the buffyverse, but this last year I decided to rewatch all 7 seasons of Buffy. Around the mid point of season 4, she was hooked. Today we just started the second season of Angel. We'll probably fly through all 5 seasons in a few weeks.

Every other day I watch an episode Firefly while I eat lunch.

I have a list of movies on my dvr to watch : 16 Blocks, Alpha Dog, Black Rain, Blade 2, Platoon, Rounders, Starship Troopers, The Paper.
Some of those I've seen, some I haven't.

I just started watching the reruns of Reaper. I'm a few episodes back on BSG, But I'll just sit down some Saturday and catch up.

Also, I'm watching the NBA finals, with the Celtics and the Lakers starting tomorrow, yay!

That's a start.

How about you?

Netflix rocks for me in the summertime.  I am currently watching BSG, and Ghosthunters.  I've rented the most current season of Weeds, which I love.  I just finished watching the first season of Dirt.  I will be renting the most current season of Entourage.

I'm bummed at the long wait for 24 and The Shield and Heroes.  I thought the Shield had one more season, but I could be wrong.  Also can't wait for Rescue Me to come back on.

And when Buffy and Angel ended...man, I was heartbroken.  The closest series I can get to fill that missing niche is Supernatural.

I'm sure there's more, but that's good for off the top of my head!

I like Heroes, but it's hit or miss for me. I just wish they would "go there", know what I mean?

Do you ever watch Smallville?

I do watch Smallville.  But I gotta say, this season kinda sucked.  And I heard that the guy who plays Lex isn't coming back next season.

They had SO many opportunities to do cool storylines, and personally I think they blew it.  They had one or two good episodes, but by and large I felt this last season wasn't that interesting.

I agree that with Rosenbaum leaving, there will be a huge void in the show. I really wasn't down with the whole "Veritas" organization and all. Also, I think Lionel Luthor was another great asset to the show.

You are correct. This is the last season of The Shield.  It's sad to see it go, but that's better than when a show drags on and on past its logical conclusion.

As far as what I am watching, not a lot of television at the moment except for The Venture Brothers new season so I am catching up on movies. I am about to watch a whole string of French horror films that Lobo recommended. I'm not sure if an intense bombardment of Gallic horror will be good for my health, but we shall see.

Also they are going to be showing the new Dario Argento film Mother of Tears this weekend at the Nuart so I am going to check that out. For anybody who liked Suspiria, it should be a treat. Here are locations where it will be playing: http://www.motheroftearsthemovie.com/select.html

I promise I don't exclusively watch horror films. Just seems to be a kick I am on right now.

Lately, I've been watching a lot of edjamacashunal shows like Modern Marvels and The American Experience and some Depression specials PBS aired. My brother has the Planet Earth and Blue Planet DVD sets, so we're borrowing those from him now that we have a big fancy TV. I also love The Office, Battlestar Galactica, Robot Chicken, Deathnote and Chowder. Lost and Hockey are over for the season, but I'd watch those too if they were on.

I've also been watching Pokemon and Wordgirl and Super Why, as I tape them for the kids. Wordgirl may be the most brilliant "kid's" show to come around in a long time. Word up!

Yeah, I KINDA watched Smallville this year. I think it's been off ever since Lex and Lana started hooking up. After that it just felt like a mess.

I know Lex is going to be gone next season, which is lame, unless it's something like Giles being gone in season 6 of Buffy, where Lex shows up for guest appearances and the end. To fill the gap of Lex being gone, they are bring Green Arrow in full time, which is cool. I like the stories with him and I'm a big fan of Oliver Queen.

I really wonder how things next year will be with no Lex, no Lana, and brand new show runners, since it's "creators" are gone.

Well the rumor is that Ms. Tessmacher from Superman I and Doomsday will replace Lex as the villains of the series. Personally, I think Doomsday is a really bad idea.

Yeah, no kidding.  Well, I'll give it one more season.  But only because it comes right before Supernatural.  Wink

Yeah, I just read this on Newsarama:

Quote
Less Lana, less Lex, but more Oliver Queen

Author JK Parkin
Justin Hartley as Green Arrow

Watch with Kristin reports that Justin Hartley, who has appeared numerous times on Smallville over the last few years as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, has joined the cast for the show’s eighth season. She says that his storylines will focus more on Oliver’s past versus his alter ego.

She also gives an update on Kristen Kreuk’s involvement with the show, now that she’s no longer a regular. “I’m also told that Kristen Kreuk (Lana) will most definitely be back for a batch of episodes—most likely six or seven—but they’re still working out the exact number.”

That’s probably six or seven too many.

How has Supernatural been lately? I got the first season on dvd and will probably get the 2nd season on dvd after I finish my Angel marathon. I have no idea what has been going on this last season, or what fans think of it.
